Refined linseed oil is classed as a drying oil due to its high level of unsaturated fatty acids. This unsaturation makes it a reactive oil which forms a film on exposure to air. It has a variety of surface coating applications including resin manufacture, textiles, epoxidised oils, printing inks, varnishes and paints. Acid refined linseed oil has excellent wetting properties and is used in pigment dispersion and paint grinding.
