Blown linseed oil is manufactured under thermally controlled conditions in the presence of air to give products with increased viscosities, specific gravities and reactivities. A wide range of viscosities are available. Blown linseed oil is classed as a drying oil and has a variety of applications including mastic and sealants, oleoresinous varnishes, printing inks, undercoats and flat paints, wood finishes and oil bound distempers, in the production of linoleum and also in the production of sand cores for use in metal castings.
